Meet Kindred.

Meet Kindred.

Our Story

Kindred was founded through lived experience. Meet Leah and Courtenay - a mother-daughter team who, like many, found themselves navigating the loss of a loved one and wondering where to start.

This isn't just business, it's deeply personal. After the loss of a beloved father and cherished grandfather, Leah and Courtenay experienced just how difficult it was to create something meaningful while carrying grief. Throughout the process of planning their memorial, they remember wishing they had someone beside them — someone steady to guide them, help make decisions, and simply hold their hand through the process.

That’s why they created Kindred.

Leah and Courtenay have worked side by side for over five years, building on Leah’s 30+ years of experience in design and project management. Today, they bring that same steadiness and care to families planning memorials and celebrations of life. Their focus is simple: We walk beside you, taking care of the details so you can focus on what truly matters: remembering, sharing, and healing.

The Kindred approach.

Kindred is built on a shared commitment to supporting families through this process with care, respect, and attention to detail. We believe that every gathering should reflect the person it’s meant to honour—whether that’s something simple and quiet or more detailed and customized.

Our role is to help guide that process in a way that feels manageable. We bring a background in planning, coordination, and logistics, paired with a deep understanding of the emotional side of what this experience can look like.

We work alongside families to understand what matters most, then provide the structure and support needed to bring it all together. That may mean full-service planning, or simply stepping in to assist with specific elements.
